As the name implies – the imitation of a sports game, the most widespread are simulations of soccer, hockey, basketball, tennis and golf.
A narrative game in which a player-controlled character progresses through a story and interacts with the game world through the use of items, communication with other characters, and solving logical problems.

Text quests
Originally, due to the low prevalence of graphical display devices and lack of resources (memory and CPU power), all quests were text-based. Later this genre was called text quest. The difference from the graphical quests is that the player interacts with the game world through the command line and the information about the world is displayed in the form of texts and drawings from the printed characters. Text-based quests do not necessarily lack a graphical component – this is pronounced in later text-based quests (Superhero league of Hoboken, etc.).
Graphic quests.
The first graphical quests appeared back in the early 1980s. These are popular series such as King’s Quest, Space Quest, and Larry in the Exit Suit.
Puzzles .
In addition to collecting items and using them, these games solve various puzzles, interned to varying degrees in the story, and the focus is on solving puzzles. Usually it may be necessary to assemble various, often absurd in both appearance and functionality, mechanisms. The most popular representatives of the genre are Myst, Neverhood.
Action-venture games .
The most popular genre of quests today is action-adventure. Basically, it is based on the reaction and reflexes of the player, but there are also elements of classic quests – objects and interaction with the environment. Well-known representatives are Legend of Zelda, Resident Evil and other games of horror genre (which may also be considered as action-adventure).
Romantic relationship simulators. Also known as romantic adventures. In terms of gameplay, some of them are close to RPGs, others – to the action games.
